Austin Street Centre
where God's love
changes lives
Since 1983, Austin Street Centre has been at the forefront of helping the homeless and poor of Dallas and surrounding areas. Now, a nationally recognized therapeutic community, we provide emergency shelter, food, showers, clothing, medications, counseling, and job training programs free of charge to those who come here.
More than 425 men, women and children receive safe shelter here each night. More than 100 participate in our highly effective step-up programs, including substance abuse counseling, psychotherapies, and psycho-social counseling. These counseling services, all free of charge, are in partnership with UT Southwestern Medical School and the University of North Texas.
Our interdenominational chapel, located next door to our emergency shelter building, provides voluntary worship services four times each week, as well as Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals.
Our ministry is unique in that we are a privately funded non-profit organization, accepting no government or United Way dollars from any level and thus providing all services to our clients at no cost to taxpayers. Each of our programs and services is provided free of charge to our clients, be it they stay for a day, a month or even years.
