501(c)(3) charitable organization established in 1983, Austin
Street Centre is supported solely through private contributions
and accepts no government funding.
Humble Beginnings is our largest fund raiser of the year.
Dollars raised from the event are directed to our ministry
and help more than 400 homeless men, women and children
who are provided shelter each night.
The fund raiser also helps us:

operate a full "care campus" environment for
the working poor;
- provide
substance abuse counseling and psycho-social therapies,
in partnership with UT Southwestern Medical School and
SMU graduate school of psychology;
- train
individuals with the skills they need to find jobs; and
- provide
shelter to those in need until they are able to afford
independent housing.
Humble Beginnings is blessed to have former NFL great and
sports broadcaster Pat Summerall as the heart and soul of
our event. We also honor high-profile national sports professionals
each year.
